The lab

What a TINFO lab includes

Machines

New or professionally refurbished computers, sized to the school roll and the timetable.

The room

Power, wiring, security, furniture and ventilation, so the equipment survives its first year.

Connectivity

A funded connection where a line is available, with an offline library where it is not.

Software

Operating systems, teaching software and the offline learning content the curriculum needs.

Teacher training

Training for the staff who will run the lab, delivered with the Digital Schools programme.

Maintenance fund

A small held-back fund for repairs, so a broken machine does not close the room.

How labs are funded

01 Schools apply Member schools submit a lab request with pupil numbers, the proposed room and what they can contribute.
02 Labs are costed Each approved lab is published with a clear cost and what that cost buys.
03 The marathon runs A fundraising marathon, online and in person, where sponsors, alumni, families and the diaspora fund labs by name.
04 Installation Equipment is bought and installed with the school, and the room is handed over formally.
05 Reporting to funders Every funded lab receives a report with photographs, pupil numbers and usage after the first term.

Fund a lab, or part of one

Sponsors can fund a full lab, a bank of machines, a connection, or the maintenance fund that keeps a lab alive.
